Had moved to Adelaide, South Australia, by 1927, when his older brother, Harry, died. There he was the (Part?) Proprietor of the "Adelaide Quiz".

In 1927 the South Australian Post Office Directory showed him as being a partner in "Smith and Craker" and living at "Harcourt", 22 College Rd, Kent Town. By 1937 Alfred was still at the same address but no longer with a business association. He appeared in the 1947 Directory but was not listed in the 1949 issue.
