ELIZABETH DELAMERE (DELMORE)
Daughter of John Sutton and Mary Ann Delmore
Born: 1838c, United Kingdom.
Married: Did not marry.
Issue: None known
Born in Britain and travelling to the Swan River Colony as a
toddler Elizabeth seems to have spent most of the rest of her life
in the Newcastle (Toodyay) area. When her brother Isaac died in
1897 he left all his estate to her and she managed the farm for
the rest of her life. When she signed the oath of administration
she made her "mark" which indicates that she was illiterate.
One unanswered question is the record of the death of an un-named
"Delmore" in Newcastle in 1857. This sort of entry normally
indicates a still-birth, or a death within a few hours of birth.
As Elizabeth's father does not seem to have remarried and her
eldest brother was only twelve years old and so unmarried and
since the only living Delmore female was nineteen year-old
Elizabeth there seems to be just the one conclusion but this is
not proven.
Died: 22.7.1906, Toodyay, W.A.
