Download The Song

The Mosquitoes Ate Up My Sweetheart
Nathan Abshire

The mosquitoes ate up my sweetheart
They left behind only her big toes
In order for me to make some corks
To plug up my half-drunk bottles.

Your dad looks like an elephant
And your mom looks like an automobile
And your little brother looks like a bullfrog
And your little sister looks like the corner of a sidewalk*.

*In Cajun French there's the expression "laid comme un coin de banquette" which means "ugly like the corner of a sidewalk."

In English in Louisiana, we usually call the sidewalk a banquette. It's usually not translated and I believe it's made its way into the English language.
