Jane Woodward was the third child and third daughter of Richard Woodward, Jr., & Esther Davis Woodward of Cheshire, England and Chester County, Pennsylvania. That she is daughter of Esther Davis Woodward is proven by her marriage certificate which gives her as daughter of Richard only, when Deborah Stanfield Woodward (Richard's then wife) was still alive (Deborah did not sign as parent on the marriage certificate either). John Pitts Launey gives a birthdate for her of 1706 and references the Kennett Meeting records, however her birthdate is not found there. As daughter of Esther she would have been born 1701 or before. Upon the death of Joseph Hayes, Jane married (2) William Wickersham of Newlin on 9/22/1750 at Londongrove Meeting.
