The year was 1960. I went to the seminary to become a Catholic priest. I met Bob Houlihan who could play guitar and, since there were no women to chase, I decided to learn to play folk music. We all learned songs by the Kingston Trio, Peter Paul and Mary, and the Chad Mitchell Trio. After I decided that celibacy was not for me, I went to Loyola University in Chicago, started playing in coffeehouses, and picked up more songs. In 1968 I got an invitation to become a trained killer for my country. Several guys I met there helped me learn a bunch more songs. Somewhere along the way, I picked up a few hundred Irish songs, met Larry Kernagis, and the music stuff got totally out of hand.
