Thomas Clapham and Elizabeth Bridgefoot ©

Thomas was born on the 1st October, 1733.  The fourth child and first son of William Clapham and his wife Piercy, nee Horne, Thomas was baptized in the Finedon Parish Church on the 9th October the same year1.

Nothing is known of Thomas’ life, until on the 15th May, 1757, he married Elizabeth Bridgefoot in the Finedon Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin2.  The marriage record indicates both were from the Finedon Parish, but to-date a baptism for Elizabeth has not been found.

Thomas and Elizabeth had nine children3: Mary 1758-1759; William 1759, he married Martha Smith 1781; Martha 1760; Piercy 1761-1849; Thomas 1766-1767; Sarah 1769; Thomas 1772-1845; and Elizabeth 1775.

It was thought Thomas died in Finedon around 1780 and was buried in the Churchyard.  However a possible burial record for him has been located on the 17th October 1781 in Little Harrowden.  Little Harrowden is approximately 6.5km West of Finedon.  It is believed Elizabeth died in Finedon on 6th February 1816 and was buried in the Parish Churchyard on the 8th February.
