John Gapes and Elizabeth Cock ©

Records and references on Ancestry, FindMyPast, RootsWeb, and FamilySearch indicate John was born late 1677 in or around Widdington, Essex.  His parents are thought to have been Thomas Gapes and his wife Mary (nee Reed).

Nothing is known of John’s life before it is believed he married Elizabeth Cock, in Elmdon, Essex on the 19^th May 1690.  Ekmdon is approximately 10km north-north-east of Widdington.  It is estimated Elizabeth was born around 1680.

To-date reference has only been found for one child: John he was baptised 1703 in Wendens Ambo.

No documentation regarding the above had yet been seen and it is not clear when or where John and Elizabeth died.
