John Gibbs and Sarah Wesson ©

John was born around 1743, the son of John Gibbs and his wife Susannah (nee Whyate)1, he was baptized in St James, the Parish Church Marston Sicca, on the 20th January, 1744.

On the 27th March, 1769, also in the Parish Church at Marston Sicca, John married Sarah Wesson, by Licence2.  Both were from the Parish, John made his mark and Sarah signed her name.  The witnesses were William Melen and Richard Camden, and the marriage was performed by W. Loggins, Rector.

Sarah, the daughter of John Wesson and his wife Sarah nee Morris, was baptised in St James Parish Church, Marston Sicca, Warwickshire, on the 15th September 17511.

Records indicate John & Sarah had seven children: John 1770, he married Mary Goddard 1807; Mary 1773; Elizabeth 1775; William 1778; Thomas 1781; Ann 1784; and Richard 1787.

At the age of 67, Sarah was buried on 16th December, 1818, in the Parish Church at Marston Sicca3.  Less than 3 weeks later, on the 5th January, 1819, John was also buried in the Parish Churchyard, his age recorded as 74years old3.  It is not known if Sarah & John were laid to rest in the same grave, or if there is, or was, a marker on their graves.
