Joseph Knight & Elizabeth (possibly Richardson) ©

Joseph is thought to have been born around 1666 , but to-date no record of a baptism for Joseph has been located.

The Badsey site indicates Joseph married Eleanor Richardson in Wickhamford Church of St John the Baptist on the 14th August 1698, but actual document has not been sited.

A possible baptism for an Eleanor Richardson in 1672 and for an Elizabeth Richardson 1674 have been located on the Badsey site, both the daughters of Richard.  However it is unclear if either of these is our Eleanor.

The Badsey Site Index suggests Joseph’s first children were twins: Thomas, he married Ann Simpson c1710; and William, both baptised in Badsey on the 16th December, 1686.  The couple then went on to have twelve more children: Alice 1688; Joseph 1690; Margaret 1693; John 1695; Henry 1699; Samuel 1700-1783; Frances 1702; Edward 1704; Benjamin 1705; James 1707-c1715; Valentine 1708 and James 1715.  The index indicates these were also all baptised in Badsey.

Badsey Burial Records show Joseph was possibly buried in Badsey on the 26th September, 1727, this reference indicates he was from Aldington1.  Aldington is approximately 2km north-west of Badsey.

A burial record for an Elizabeth Knight has been located in Badsey on the 24th August, 1750 and is believed to be our Elizabeth.
