Charles Mustin & Mary Durnell ©

A possible baptism has been found for a Charles Muston, son of Benjamin & Ann.  Born on the 5th February 1725 and Baptised on the 6th of February in Christchurch Southwark Surrey England1

The next record we have of Charles is when he married Mary Durnell in St John the Baptist Parish Church Wickhamford, Worcestershire2.  156km north-north-west of Southwark it is not known when Charles may have moved to Worcestershire, nor why, or if he went with his family or on his own.  Lying midway between Evesham and Broadway, the village name originates from the name ‘Wiquene’ as mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086 as belonging to Evesham Abbey.

Records indicate Mary was the daughter of William Durnell and his wife Elizabeth, and she was baptised in the Parish Church, Badsey, Worcestershire, on the 11th April, 1732.

Public Family Tress on Ancestry indicate Charles & Mary had nine children, all baptised in Badsey:  Elizabeth 1735-1828, she married Joseph Knight 1772; William 1755; Sarah 1757-1863; Giles Durnell 1759; Charles 1759; Hannah 1761-1815; Martha 1766-1863; Jane 1771; and Steven 1773-1784.  Badsey is approximately 2.5km north of Wickhamford.

Mary died in October 1796 and was buried in the Parish Churchyard on the 4th October, she was 64years old.

At the age of 74 Charles died and was buried on the 5th March, 1798, in the Parish Churchyard4.
