David Wesson (Weston) and Maria (Mary) Webb ©

It is estimated David Wesson was born about 1675, a possible Baptism for David has been found in Burton Dassett All Saints parish Church, Warwickshire on the 30th January, 16761, parents Johnis & Anna.  Burton Dassett is approximately 25km east of Pebworth, and in the era of agricultural labourers travelling for seasonal work is well within the range of possibilites.

The first positive record so far discovered for David is that of his marriage to Maria (Mary) Webb in the Parish Church of St James the Greater, Marston Sicca, Warwickshire, on the 14th May, 17132.  This record indicates David was from Pebworth and Maria from Marston Sicca.

Maria was baptised in Marston Sicca on the 20th December, 16911.  A search of the Marston Sicca parish records before this date suggest her parents may have been Joseph Webb and Elizabeth nee Durrham.  Marston Sicca is roughly 4km north-north-east of Pebworth.  Originally in Gloucestershire Marston Sicca was transferred to Warwickshire in 1931 and is in the Parish of Long Marston.

It is not known what occupation David was involved in, but it is apparent he and his wife moved back to Pebworth after their marriage.  The parish records of Pebworth indicate David and Maria had five children all baptised in the local Parish Church: Mary 1714; Ann 1716; Elizabeth 1717; John 1720, he married Sarah Morris 1742; and Susannah 1724.  In later records Maria is referred to as Mary.

A burial for David has been found in Pebworth on the 30th January, 17303.  It is estimated he was about 55years old.

Mary died at the age of 64 in 1755 and was laid to rest in Pebworth on the 4th May3.
