Michael's naturalization took place in Northampton County, PA, October 14, 1765. He settled in the Bethel & Heidelberg Township area of Lancaster County, PA (now part of Lebanon County). Alternating spellings of the surname in various records are Overkirsh, Overkarsh, Overkirsch, Oberkarsh. It is believed that Michael came from the Obernai Region, Blissberg, Germany.
