In the name of God Amen, I John Buie of the county of Jefferson and State of Mississippi, perfect ? and ? thanks to God ? calling to and the mortality of my body knowing it is appointed to all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

First, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner not doubting but at the resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God.

And touching the world by estate wherewith hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and divide the same in the following manner and ?.

First, I give and bequeath the whole of my land to my son Neill Buie charging him to maintain his mother Elisabeth Buie and also to maintain his sister Catherine Buie. Also give him my Negro man JIM ,also my Negro man HARRY, also my two farm horses and farming utensils.

Second, to my daughter Catherine Buie I give and bequeath my Negro woman DICE.

Third, I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Buie my Negro man TOM.

Further, I give and bequeath the whole of my stock of cattle, hogs and sheep and all the produce of my estate to be equally divided among my living children accepting that my son Archibald shall sold all mares. Also I give and and bequeath to him my Negro boy SOLOMON.

Further, I do hereby ordain that my son Neill Buie at my decease pay to each of my grandchildren, Wilkinsons and Buies, the sum of one hundred dollars each out of the ? left to him or any monies in my possession at my decease.

(Note: John Buie was born abt. 1770 in NC and he died January 07, 1830 in Union Church, MS. John and his wife Elizabeth were listed as charter members of Union Church Presbyterian Church in Jefferson County, MS. Their children were Archibald, Neil, Catherine, Margaret, Nancy, and Jennett.)
