Deed of Gift to John H. D. Scott
Filed for record the 5th day of May A. D. 1862

This indenture made and entered into this 8th day of March A. D. 1860 between Samuel Scott and Madora A. Scott his wife parties of the first part and John H. D. Scott of second part. All of the county Jefferson and state of Mississippi witnesseth that for and in consideration of the love and affection which said parties of the first part bear towards said party of the second part said parties of the first part hereby give to said John H. D. Scott the following property to wit, seven hundred and eighty acres of land known by the name of "Mount Vernon Place," situated in said county said tract of land is bounded as follows on east by land of Mary Cogan and heirs, on south by lands of David Harrison, on north of lands of the late Jesse Terry now owned by L. Terry, also the following named slaves to wit, BIG GEORGE, MARY ANN, LINDA, WESLEY, ANN, TOM, WALKER, SAMBO, LUCINDA, JOE, MARY and child, BUCK, LOUISA, NELSON, MARGRET and child, AARON, SUSAN, LIT GEORGE, CELERY, MATHES and SUSAN'S baby, TALLY and BLUNK and her child, FELIX, RACHAEL and JANE. HENRY, TENNESSEE, PETER, SALLY and her child, I wish them to go to Florence and Betty ?. 29 Negroes to our son John H. D. Scott, all the mules, 18 oxen and cattle, 20 hogs, farming utensils and household furniture to my John John H. D. Scott. Should he die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years old then all of said above named properties both real and personal to return to my estate. We do appoint David Harrison trustee to act and manage the above specificed property for our son John H. D. Scott.

Given under our hand and seals this 8th day of March A. D. 1860

Deed of Gift to Sarah H. Dangerfield
Filed for Record the 6th day of May A. D. 1862


This indenture made and entered into this 7th day of March A. D. 1860 between Samuel Scott and Madora A. Scott his wife parties of the first part and Sarah H. Dangerfield of the second part all of the county Jefferson and state of Mississippi, witnesseth that for and in consideration of the love and affection which said parties of the first part bears towards said party of the second part said parties of the first part hereby gives to said Sarah H. Dangerfield the following property seven hundred and fourteen acres of land situated in said county being the same tract of land now in possession of the said Sarah H. Dangerfield said tract is bounded on north by lands owned by Mary Cogan anad heirs, on the east by lands of estate of Jamison Liddell, on the south by lands of Robert Sillers and George Torrey, on the west by lands of george Torrey and Mrs. Harrison, also the following named slaves to wit, DICK, MAVIA, MARSHALL, NIGHT, NANCY, ALMATO, WAREN, HARRY, EMALINE, SAM, BILL, AMY, JEFF, JACOB, SUSAN AND CHILD, also 16 mules, six yoke oxen, fifty head of cattle, one hundred head hogs, half of the sheep, and horse Tom, all farming utensils and household and kitchen furniture on said place also following slaves DENNIS, CICLY AND HER 3 CHILDREN, ADALINE, ANTHONY AND MARY.
