Bought RHODA of Griffin and Pullen at Natchez on the 6th March 1856, formerly owned by Dr. E. R. McCreery, Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky. She was delivered of a girl MALLA August 11, 1856.


MORRIS was born February 27, 1859.


HIRAM was born April 30, 1860.


RHODA was delivered of a girl October 2, 1861.


Bought CHARLES of Mr. Hooker at Brookhaven Miss on the 6th January 1859 for $1425 - aged 22 years.
Zadick Hooker, the single slave owner in Copiah County, MS, with the surname Hooker. Zadick owned 62 slaves in 1850 and 52 slaves in 1860. Hymbree Hooker of Lawrence County, MS, owned 12 slaves in 1850, and owned 10 slaves in 1860.

By 1870, CHARLES HOOKER had married CATE, another slave of Archibald Smith. Cate's daughter LAURA was born on the Smith Plantation.

CATE married CHARLES HOOKER. Cate's daughter LAURA is seen in the 1870 household of Charles and Cate Hooker.

In 1860, Neill McCormick owned 8 slaves and was the guardian of 12 slaves in Jefferson County, MS


HANNAH was delivered of a male child June 29th 1860.
HANNAH was delivered of a male child September 1861.
Hannah had a relationship with Anderson Mitchell who was hired to work on the Smith farm after the death of his owner "Old Man" John Mitchell in 1859. Anderson and Hannah's relationship produced one son, Abraham Mitchell. Months after the birth of their son, Anderson was returned to the Mitchell place. Anderson died January 24, 1864 in Natchez, MS, while serving with the 58th Regiment, United States Colored Infantry.

Hannah married Charles Levi after the Civil War.

Archibald Smith was born in 1804 in North Carolina, died in 1868 in Jefferson County, MS. He was the son of Archibald Smith and Sarah Elizabeth Buie. He married Nancy Patterson September 17, 1828 in Jefferson County, daughter of Angus Patterson and Mary McMillan.

An Archibald Smith is in the Union Church Presbyterian Church Session Records.

Archibald owned 15 slaves per the 1860 Jefferson County Slave Schedule.
