I first met Andrea Simons back in the mid-1970s.
Andrea struck me immediately as a very gracious and warm woman. The
mother of my college roommate, Andrea never failed to make me feel welcome
in her home during my visits there. She adored her children,
and it was obvious she was very proud of them and their accomplishments.
Andrea did not have an easy life in many ways. Yet in spite of it, she never lost her warm smile, her compassion for others, or her artistic talent. She was one of the rare women I have ever met who had grace, compassion, taste, humor and warmth all wrapped up in one package.
I drink a toast to a rare woman who was stronger
than she knew.
