Walter ‘Wally’ Frederick Cook of Sherbrooke

Kelly was born at Iserlohn, Germany while her father was serving with the Canadian Peacekeepers during the construction of the Berlin Wall. Since 1999, she has had a web site, Kelly's Uncommon Heroes (http://www.geocities.com/kkaiser61/index.html),dedicated to the veterans of Guysborough County and surrounding area.
Kelly resides with her husband in Sherbrooke, NS.
Kelly is the daughter of Dorothy and Walter Cook. Her father was born at Sherbrooke, the son of Bertha and Walter Cook, and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 25th Regiment at Halifax and Newfoundland during the Second World War.

Cook
Walter Frederick ‘Wally’ Cook was born July 20, 1923 at Sherbrooke, Guysborough County, NS. He was the son of Bertha Baker and Walter Cook. Wally enlisted with the Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 25th Regiment at Halifax and Newfoundland. He was discharged in 1946. 


Wally re-enlisted in 1954 and was stationed at Debert, Winnipeg and Calgary. He served as a peacekeeper in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. Retiring in December 1973, he moved his family, including two of his five children, back ‘home’ to Sherbrooke.

On March 20, 1991, Wally passed away in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, NS. He was 67 years old.
