Neeraj
Prem
is not a new face to the music lovers of Ontario. Neeraj is often
described as a painter on the “SITAR”, weaving musical images in the air
with his solid, mystic and technically perfect playing. The amazingly
fresh music originating from his “Canvas” is attested to by his gigantic
popularity among music lovers. Neeraj is a composer who has mastered both
classical techniques and adroit improvisation.
His accompaniments will include a tabla player, israj player and other
percussionists. The concert will be divided into 2 halves. The first part
will be a pure classical rendition and the second part, old folk tunes
from the Indian subcontinent. Neeraj is a student of Ustad Shujaat Khan.
He has inherited the unique style of blending his voice and instruments
together following the gharana of Ustad Vilayat Khan.
