GUIDLINES

Keep in mind, if you are a traveler and have limited time in a city you would not want to hire a taxi and find out you are in "O'Malley's Irish Bar" where you will find no traditional music, no one from Ireland, very few people of Irish descent, and only Guinness in bottles, Shamrocks deocrating the walls and nothing else of any Irish interest except on St Patrick's Day.

We don't want to omit anyone but there are perhaps, over dozens of pubs in this town, with Irish names, drink and food, some owned by people from Irealnd, but absolutely never any music and are more "neighborhood" pubs rather than a meeting place for Irish emigrants and descendents or lovers of Irish sport and music.

So our criteria is a bit strict.

At least once a week feature traditional music, and.or sessions.
At least once a week feature good quality Irish Ballad Groups.
Be a place where Irish emigrants frequent several times a week.
Any pub where over half of the regular nighly patrons are of Irish descent. (Does that mean every bar in South Boston?)
Any pub that broadcasts live GAA Football and Hurling during the season.
Any pub that broadcasts Irish / European Soccer where it also attacts Irish Patrons
And PLEASE don't nominate any pub where the only weekly Irish entertainment is where locals meet and sing "Irish Karaoke" unless it meets one of the other criteria listed above.

If you submit pubs, please give a brief descrition and tell us what nights, certain things are offered or what kind of the above criteria it meets or does not meet. Also major bus routes to connect with it, and is it actually "downtown" or out in the suburbs or really "out of town"?

Please do not endanger anyone by submitting pubs where you think people who have mistakenly overstayed their visas, etc, frequent. Best omit them. We do not break any laws or encourage anyone to break any laws. However, we fear the same people who failed to protect us in the past could become overzealous in the future and make life misearable for innocent tourists. Please THINK.

We are especially interested in Irish pubs, etc in Europe.
