Step 1. : Place the two pieces of fabric right sides together. Put the piece of batting on top. Pin the three layers together, then baste.Step 2. : Machine stitch around all sides, leaving a 6 in. opening on one side. Trim edges and corners. Step 3. : Turn the mat right side out. Hand or machine stitch the opening closed. Step 4. : Topstitch by machine along all edges, about 1 in. in from the edge. Or, embroider a decorative stitch in contrasting thread.  |
