Here is a review of Every Single Day for Fish Records in the UK- this is the first review i've seen so far

In March 1999, we made Lucy's 'Ten Year Night' release our album of the month, and with this new release she becomes the first artist to have a second album used as our lead item. Her new album, 'Every Single Day' is a superb mixture of her own songs and a few well-chosen covers, including a sublime reading of Julie Miller's 'Broken Things'. As ever, her voice is warm and easy to listen to, and the quality of the musicians and production is truly exceptional. 'Every Single Day' has a heavyweight line-up, with Larry Campbell, Richard Shindell, John Gorka, Jennifer Kimball and Buddy Miller amongst the players, but it's definitely Lucy who takes centre stage.

The eleven songs are a clever and attractive mix of acoustic and fuller sounding tracks, but the common feature is the fact that they are all full of memorable hooks; it's a disc with the melodic charms of good pop music, but with the musical and lyrical depth you'd expect from a good singer/songwriter - a perfect combination.

Highlights abound throughout the disc, and each listen uncovers something new to enjoy, but the definite standouts are the title track and 'Crazy Dreams', these two tracks emphasise the best qualities of the disc perfectly - great vocals and musicianship across two contrasting styles, one perfect radio material, the other a quiet reflective number.

Over the course of her four albums, Lucy has improved on each previous release, and this disc is no exception - it's an album full of contrasts and subtlety, and it's all delivered in her disarming and understated style. This is a disc from a singer/songwriter at the very top of her game; it's an easy disc to listen to, with excellent melodies and smart production, but has huge depth both musically and lyrically.
