Neighbourhood Network
History
HISTORY
The Marcoola Neighborhood Network was
formed in November 1998 in response to the
then latest AIRPORT MASTER PLAN, mainly because the Local
Progress Association refused to represent the views and feelings
of most of the local residents.
This Web Site was subsequently set up to publicise our views on this
matter.
At the next General Meeting of
The Progress Association in
1999, our members were
overwhelmingly voted into office as the new Executive Committee and
this web site was converted to be the Official Site for the Marcoola
Progress Association and continued to be so for the following four
years.
By 2002 the Airport had ceased to be the Main Issue and many of the
original Network members had lost interest and resigned. The site was
taken up with other projects such as Dune Restoration etc.
However in 2003, due to a dispute with the Maroochy Shire Council over
the actions of the Local Laws Officers and, in particular, the Dog
Catcher, I was forced to resign as President and the incoming Executive
Committee requested that this Site be Dismantled.
But since it was never their's to begin with, I simply re-converted it
BACK to the Original NETWORK and removed any reference to the
Progress Association.
In the light of the LATEST AIRPORT MASTER PLAN (Version 2006), I have
now reserected it to reflect the feelings of most of my Neighbours as
once again the Local Progress Association seem to be ignoring the issue.
I REITERATE THAT THIS WEB SITE IN NO WAY REPRESENTS THE VIEWS OF THE
MARCOOLA PROGRESS ASSOCIATION OR IT'S MEMBERS.
