Mexico Vivo Dance Company is renowned for its talent and creativity, as well as for its wide range of repertoire - also offers a broad training program of individual and group classes, guest artist residencies, summer camps and master classes geared expressly to children, teens and adults.
In 2004, Executive Director Ixela Gutierrez and Mexico Vivo organized and produced the Las Vegas
World Folk Festival, which attracts more than 1,000 folk artists from Mexico, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States each year.
Since then, the festival has become a major attraction in July, drawing crowds of over 10,000 people to performances, competitions and workshops spanning a one-week period.

On 2007, Governor of Nevada Jim Gibbons and The Nevada Arts Council honored Ixela Gutierrez & Mexico Vivo D.C. with the Governor’s Arts Award to recognize their outstanding Excellence in Folk and Traditional Arts and enduring contributions to Nevada through artistic achievement and service to the arts since 1995.
Ixela Gutierrez has been honored as the very first winner of the Nevada Arts Council’s Nevada Heritage Award 2009, created to spotlight Nevada’s finest and most influential masters of folk art.
