Photo Number: #3. Floor Number-Item Number: 1/11. (See: Floor Level 1. First Floor Plan-"The Road level") Items in Photo: Roller mill. Provenance - Manufacturer (if known): Wolf Company, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Dimensions, Yield, Capacity, Output, and Additional Information: Standard double Style "A," No. 6399. Catalog Documentation: "Flour Mill Machinery (Corn, Feed, Cereal, and Alfalfa), Flour, Corn, Cereal, and Feed Mill Machinery, Complete Accessories, The Wolf Company (Established 1879, "Complete Modern Mill Builders and Engineers"), Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. U. S. A., 1922.
The Wolf Standard Double Roller Mill has been performing the severest service for many years. It possess the same rugged base as the "Super Type" and all the exacting mechanical essentials which make the "Super Type" so superior. The housing and feeder are made of the best grade seasoned lumber and guaranteed to withstand all reasonable wear and sudden changed in temperature. The workmanship is of a very high order and every exposed surface is filled and carefully varnished so that with the varying changes in moisture - laden air will not warp or crack the wood. Made and remains tight so that there is no possibility of dusting. Glass paneled door permits the operator to observe the action of the feeder while a glass window shows the flow of stock to the feeder. Pitted with any kind or style of feeder. The brackets which supports the feed belt tightener is securely fastened to the iron frame and does not become loose after long usage. The throw-off lever which spreads the rolls also stops the feed of stock to the rolls. Provision is also made for removing and fire-proof as the "Super Type" but for wood construction the Standard fears no completion - it stands supreme in its accurate and satisfactory performance and gives long years of service. It is operating in hundreds of mills in this country and constitutes a large part of American Mills operating in Foreign countries. It has, therefore, proven its superior efficiency and reliability under all possible operating conditions. We claim that the grain in passing thru the rolls, carries a downward current of air, and that the air is heated by the friction caused by the reduction of the grain. The heated air is therefore beneath the rolls. The Wolf System of roll exhaust draws, the air downward between the rolls and pulls it out beneath the rolls, thus keeping the rolls cool for long runs. Cool rolls have largest capacity and do the most uniform grinding. Wolf Standard Ball Bearing Double Roller Mill is built with the same solid housing for rigidly holding the ball bearings. The base or frame is built for the most severe service - rigid and non-vibratory yet, possessing that rare resiliency which makes the reduction so exactingly accurate. Balanced with the low center of gravity in the solid cast iron partition, the life of the rolls is greatly enhanced. We question whether there is a stronger, more powerful, or more dependable roller mill built than the "Wolf."
