My thanks to everyone who
posted about the possible makeover. I agree that white
would be easier to read for most of us.
By the way, PetsMart
and I am sure, other pet stores have a donation box for
Hurricane Katrina's many homeless pets. I live near a
store and make a donation every time I go in (which is
often when you own 3 cats).
The human toll is
terrible, but when I also see the pets who are wandering
all over the place, looking for food and shelter, it
breaks my heart.
Looking around and seeing
many more popular blogs in white, I thought I might
change my own blog. Here's one idea. Is this any easier
to read? Alternate Blog Idea
Once a long time ago, I
tried a different design: Old Design Plans. While I like
the bright colors, I pretty much scrapped that one.
Our local city newsgroup
has been chatting about animal victims of the hurricane.
Rescuers usually did not permit animals to ride with the
people they saved. Many pets had to be abandoned. I
found a link to the ASPCA where donations can be left
for helping these newly-homeless pets --> ASPCA Hurricane Aid.
It is also a source of news about the animals in the
area.
My daughter got a call to
jury duty from the U.S. District Court. I doubt she will
actually be accepted, being a trauma intensive care
nurse and much needed at the hospital. I remember
serving last year -- it was a very interesting
experience that I hope I get to do again.
I have to chuckle,
though. I never got a call to jury duty during my entire
life until last year while most of the rest of my family
served - and now my daughter gets a call at her young
age.
The aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina is shocking. Things seem to be getting
worse as we find out just how much destruction was done.
I put links on my sites and hope others will do the same
for organizations that accept donations to help. It is
going to take a lot of time of money.
I
created a domain linking my mini movies from
BamaPhotos.com (aka BamaBlog.TextAmerica.com). Normally,
I would create this as a category at BamaPhotos, but the
system there will not allow us to place an item in more
than one category and I did not want to move the movies
from the other topics where they were listed. Also, they
have a problem where you can not page through categories
very well (you can only bring up the first page and
sometimes the page number index under the first page
thumbnails will go to other pages and sometimes not).
Thus,
TinyMovies.net and
PumpkinBreadMovies.com were born. (Domain
names are a dime-a-dozen and I could not decide between
either one.) One of my first "better" movies was about
making pumpkin bread. The bread came out soft and
delicious, thus I have warm fuzzies about that name,
reminiscent of homemade goodness. The other is just a
good title, surprisingly available. As of right now, I
do not have all of the movies listed, but that should
change in the next couple of days.
