On
November 14th, I posted a link to a site that revealed
many of the sales planned for the Friday after
Thanksgiving.
Here's another site with upcoming ads. I got a
chuckle from their messages. Some companies like Disney
love the publicity from this site and others like Sears
and Office Depot are hopping mad.
I was in
Wal-Mart today and the cashier who was checking me out
said that she will be coming into work at 4 a.m. on
Black Friday. While I like being out in the early crowds
(for some reason I love a friendly crowd), so far, I
don't see anything that I want.
I remember
waiting in line at a Micro Center - outside in the dark
before dawn even began. They served us hot drinks and
donuts - just to keep us happy while standing in line.
It worked. We chatted with each other and enjoyed the
refreshments. I remember getting a good router and
network card that day. (It was a Belkin Router and has
been very, very good. We like it better than our Netgear
and Linksys.)
Last night, I tried making
a little Christmas animation. Here's my first
Christmas-specific one. I like doing words because I
love fonts so much and have collected many through the
years.
This
wouldn't really be a Bama Blog if I didn't report the
score of the big rivalry football game here yesterday.
It was funny going around town seeing cars decorated for
either Alabama or Auburn. People wore their shirts for
one or the other team, too. My daughter and her husband
threw a football party. (Their wedding day reflected
this rivalry. She was Alabama and he was Auburn. Friends
decorated their car with an Alabama side and an Auburn
side.)
This game is bigger than the Superbowl
around here. As I've said before, football is a religion
in Alabama.
The
PG-13 rating is well-deserved. A higher level of
violence and scary stuff was in it including chopping
off arms, death and gory slimey things. Harry is
bloodied up in some scenes. If you've read the books,
you know there are no happy endings from here on out,
alas.
With
all of the tragedy concerning human life, we don't hear
much about the loss and survival of animal life during
the tsunami. Thanks to my cousin Maud H.
for this link to a beautiful story of an orphaned
baby hippo during the Tsunami. He was so lonely for a
parent that he adopted a large tortoise as a mother.
They are now bosom buddies.
Click on the slideshow from
the link above to see all of the beautiful photos. This
is a story that really warms the heart.
This came from my Italian
friend,
Momiji, who actually ended up being
Italian food - which we all thought was amusing. I took
the test and it rated me as something else ---
You Are Mexican Food
Spicy yet dependable.
You pull punches, but people still love you.
