Christmas News & Recipes

Christmas News from Topix has constantly-updated links to Christmas News around the world. It's very easy to scan and read. Now that Christmas is almost here, I am much into the holiday spirit and wish these 3 days would go by more slowly than they do.

Here's a link to Google's current Christmas news.

And, if you are still looking for yummy things to bake, here's a link to AllRecipes.com Christmas food (scroll down past the ads to see them). Yay for Christmas!

JibJab's End of Year Movie

The guys are at it again with this new end of year movie starring George Bush. I didn't find this one as funny, but it was still worth a watch. Just ignore the price listed here -- the movie is free - the price is only if you want to download a copy. Also an ad is played at the beginning of the movie.

Build a Snowman

Remember the virtual "Carve an Online Jack O'Lantern" site? Here's one for building snowmen --> Build a Snowman (thanks to Lynn B.). Be sure to look at the gallery -- some very, very creative folks came this way. Here's the simple one I made.

Good Source of Positive News

I don't watch the evening news that much. It depresses me and I prefer the local newspaper where it is easier to skip over the gruesome details in stories.

Here's a place that carries positive news - HappyNews.com. It is growing so fast that this site has become very popular. It carries current stories and events - and stays up to date. There are many good things going on in the world. Come here and take a break from the regular news.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Here's my daughter's recipe for sugar cookies. She and my husband love sugar cookies, even over chocolate chip cookies, as shocking as that seems to me.

Easy Sugar Cookies

2 & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 & 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

Peppermint Milkshake Goodness

I have a holiday recommendation -- the O'Charley's "Candy Cane Smoothie, made with Island Oasis Ice Cream and Monin Peppermint Syrup." Very good. My daughter got me to try this and I am glad I did. It really feels like Christmas now.
