Secrets are rarely buried with their keeper. Most of the time, they are promptly unearthed and exposed to a loved one's scrutiny, making them all the more shocking. Catrina certainly had no idea her Nana -- loving, capable, eighty-five-year-old Nana -- liked to call forth the "dark side" to fix her plumbing and other such things. At first, she doesn't know what to make of this strange little treasure trove, or what to think about Nana's little black book; a book apparently capable of conjuring demons -- there's an alphabetized list to choose from -- to do one's biding. Sounds like bad mojo to her, definitely not something she wants to mess around with, though this does explain quite a bit about Nana and her nocturnal activities.
Accidentally placing a booty call to Malthus, the earl of Hell, skillfully eradicates all of Catrina's misgivings regarding this little black book, however, and the many wonders it is capable of opening up to her; wicked, debauched wonders only demons and fallen angels can bestow upon a willing, mortal woman.
Oh yes, Nana's Little Black Book is full of surprises and dazzling decadence. Doing the deed with a well-endowed demon certainly gives a whole new meaning to risky sexual behavior, doesn't it? Shannon Leigh's erotic novella may be a little too kinky for some readers, in fact. We're talking about demonic possession, after all *ahem* -- though the Grigori (or fallen angel), Ramuel the Watcher, is more angelic in nature. Too bad he arrives so late on the scene.
As far as legacies go, Catrina's Nana has left behind a doozy. Her lack of disclosure is an impediment to her granddaughter, however, and makes one wonder why she never 'fessed up about the book and its very special, oh-so potent powers. (Let's not dwell on the sharing of these "powers" and the women's dual experiences with pleasure-giving demons and/or Grigoris). Obviously, the possibilities are endless, and endlessly pleasing, making Nana's Little Black Book a delightful burden to bear. In other words, this short erotic novella is destined to give a great deal of pleasure to fans of this raw, racy subgenre.
