BOTTLED WATER Tests
conducted by the Pollution Monitoring Laboratory of the Centre for Science and
Environment in India has found that many bottled waters and 12 major soft drink
brands contain a deadly cocktail of pesticide residues. Soft drink brands
include Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi, Blue Pepsi, Coca-Cola, 7-Up, Fanta, and
Sprite. All samples contained residues of four extremely toxic
pesticides and insecticides: lindane, DDT, malathion, and chlorpyrifos,
far exceeding the maximum residue limit for pesticides in water used as food,
set down by the European Economic Commission. Each sample had enough
poison to cause cancer, damage to the nervous and reproductive system, birth
defects, and severe disruption of the immune system with long-term use. READ

FRIED POTATO BLUES
Alarmingly high levels of acrylamide, a substance
that causes cancer in test animals, have been found in numerous everyday foods:
french fries, potato chips, some types of breakfast cereals and breads — high-carbohydrate foods that are fried or baked at high temperatures. The
chemical was not found in boiled foods, which are cooked at lower temperatures. Acrylamide is used to produce plastics and dyes and to purify drinking water.
Although traces have been found in water, no one expected high levels to be in
basic foods. One order of fast food french fries was found to contain 300

THE DEBATE OVER LOW-CARB DIETS AND THE FOOD
PYRAMID Low-carbohydrate diets
appear to work well in the short term, but may not be a long-term solution.
When you strictly eliminate carbohydrates all together as a source of
energy for the body, the body burns stored and other fats for energy, hence you
lose fat -- at least for a while. If you don't follow this diet strictly
and if you eat some carbohydrates, the body may revert to using the
carbohydrates for energy and store all the fat you've been eating. Another
possible problem with this diet is the high protein intake that can tax the
liver over time. The liver is one of your primary organs of
detoxification, and must function well to eliminate all of the toxins we are
taking in from our environment, such as hormones and antibiotics in meats,
preservatives and pesticides in foods, etc. How does this relate to the
food guide pyramid? Well, the low-carb diets claim that you should reduce
your intake of carbohydrates, which clearly contradicts the "tried and true"
food guide pyramid. I personally believe that both are wrong. The
low-carbohydrate diets will only work for so long, and may cause long-term
problems. Whole grains are natural, were intended to be eaten, and are
essential to our health. It is critical that we have high levels of whole
grains and other complex carbohydrates, but the problem with the food guide
pyramid is that it does not differentiate between whole grains and processed
carbohydrates. All carbohydrates should not fall into the food guide
pyramid. Most people who eat a lot of carbohydrates, eat bleached white
bread, "enriched" bread that has had most of the vitamins stripped from it,
white noodles, fried chips, and other processed carbohydrates that have
virtually no nutritional value and are full of toxins. Whole grains
naturally bind and remove fat and toxins from the body, causing natural
weight loss and improved health. Eating whole grains and other foods in
their natural state should not be considered a "diet." This is how we were
intended to eat, and it is how we should always eat. Consuming only whole
grain breads, cereals, and pastas, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, and
avoiding sugars, saturated fats, unnatural
"diet" and "low-fat" foods, fried
foods (as oil changes chemically at high temperatures), and other processed
foods laden with preservatives, chemicals,
excitotoxins, and other poisons will not only help you lose weight naturally
for life, but will increase overall energy, mental clarity, and will help
prevent disease.
CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME, MS, AND AIDS -- A
RELATED EPIDEMIC?
Sufferers
of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, and AIDS have at least one
thing in common -- a virus that has been labeled Human Herpes Virus 6 (HHV-6) by
Harvard Medical School. The infection was found in 100% of autopsies done
on chronic fatigue, MS, and AIDS patients at the Institute for Viral
Pathogenesis.
The latest research shows that HHV-6 was
contracted by almost everyone before two years of age with the childhood illness
called Roseola. The Roseola Virus becomes dormant until the immune system is
overworked by illness or triggered by other stress factors in life, then
reactivates and makes people very ill. Dr. W. John Martin's research shows
that many of these diseases are linked to inoculations we received as children,
which contained live viruses.

GENETICALLY ENGINEERED (GE) FOODS CROPPING UP IN GROCERY STORES
Lab tests and industry disclosures indicate
that 60-75% of all non-organic Supermarket foods now "test positive" for the
presence of GE ingredients. Despite growing public concern over the safety of
milk and dairy products from cows injected with recombinant Bovine Growth
Hormone (rBGH), as well as human health and environmental concerns over GE corn,
soy, canola, and cotton, the U.S. government refuses to require safety-testing
or labeling for GE foods. Scientists warn that GE foods may set off allergies,
increase cancer risks, produce antibiotic-resistant pathogens, damage food

butterflies and beneficial insects such as ladybugs, and the creation of "superpests,"
"superweeds," and virulent new plant viruses. You can make a
strong statement simply by making the right shopping choices, and put poison
peddlers out of business -- ask for and buy organic whenever possible!

WHAT'S IN YOUR CLEANING PRODUCTS?
Two common ingredients found
in household cleaners are bleach and ammonia. Not
only can their fumes cause lung problems, but when
combined together, they form a new gas called "chloramine,"
which releases free radicals in the lungs.
Currently, 90% of all
shampoos, soaps, conditioners, and body creams contain
one of the following four harmful chemicals:
diethanolamine (DEA), sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS),
sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), and propylene glycol
(PG). The dangers
of DEA, a potential carcinogen even in small doses, were
reported by Dr. Samuel Epstein, a well-known expert in
environmental medicine at the University of Illinois -
Chicago. SLS and
SLES are used as inexpensive detergents that produce a
lot of foam and bubbles (misconception: healthy
soaps that clean well do not need to lather). They
have not been proven to be toxic, but they can irritate
both the skin and eyes.
PG is used as a humectant
ingredient to keep the product from drying out.
Research at the American Academy of Dermatologists
connects PG with rashes and dermatitis.
Read labels carefully and
avoid unnatural products with these ingredients or other
ingredients you don't understand. Try to locate
more natural, home-made soaps with herbal extract bases
that use aromatic oils as fragrances. You can also
of course easily make your own soap by melting glycerine
in a double boiler, and adding any combination of olive
oil, oatmeal, aloe vera, goat milk, a few drops of an
essential oil of your choosing, flowers, or herbs, and
pour the melted mixture into a soap mold from your local
craft supply store. If you don't have the

or order your
natural and organic personal and household products
online. There are a wide variety of products
available today with aromatherapy scents, skin
conditioning ingredients like olive oil and oatmeal, and
healing properties, and the prices are coming down as
consumer demand increases.
