Pseudacris nigrita. Small, noisy, and very colorful, these little frogs can be heard from over a mile away on clear, calm nights. This species also calls in the daytime more than most others, usually calling quite loudly from beneath a clump of dead grass about an inch or two above them. They usually call from the water, and they are quite difficult to spot even when you're right over them! Usually heard during the Winter months.

These were taken near St. Augustine, Florida.
