This is the beautiful Rana pipiens! Truly one of the most beautiful species anywhere on the planet, and highly variable as well, and as time permits I will be adding quite a variety here! Seldom entering water during the dry months, these usually take cover in open grassy areas often far from water! They hibernate in permanent water, then migrate to temporary ponds and marshes in the spring to breed, with males usually arriving first, often in great numbers!
