Welcome to Skies Of 2008! Here you will encounter some truly amazing photos, and will experience some of the finest displays of clouds and storms I have ever seen - all grouped together in one year - 2008!
An August storm
This one was approaching quickly from behind me (from the South) in front of the nature center at camp (I was facing North here).
These will open into larger images. Dial-up users may not want to click on the images because some are very large, and I'm hoping the standard-size images are ok for my Dial-up viewers :-)
Looking across the same field on a different day, here's beautiful sunset behind an approaching storm. It passed by without any rain later that evening, followed by a cold front.
Here's the "leading edge" of a strong, fast-moving line of storms (June 16), and HERE you can see the actual radar image from that event.
A cold front Cold fronts usually pass by quietly (such as the one shown here), while others bring gusty winds and sharply falling temperatures upon their passing. This is a "summer front" which brought pleasant relief from the humidity for a few days.
A storm in MOTION! Clicking on the above photo will open a VIDEO, showing this extremely fast-moving, dangerous, rotating storm! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! This picture shows the huge wall cloud going nearly straight down to the ground! Incredible video as well! Here's the actual radar image of this incredible, fast-moving event!
