Your help made the special day a success. Laveta and Jim are truly grateful for all of your hard work. Sandy did a great job on LaVeta's, Rachel's and Rebecca's hair. They all looked fabulous. Sherrie, Sam, Todd, Temeca, Sandy, Kenny and Shannon worked tirelessly to help set up and clean up to which we are especially grateful. Shannon not only cooked several dishes but delivered most all of it. Thank you Shannon. As all of you who attended know, Jim was a basket case and was rendered completely inept by the pressure. Laveta however was mostly as cool as a cucumber all day. Go figure. Laveta was stunning in her lavish dress. She was as lovely as any bride whom ever took the stroll down the isle. She was flanked by Sam who was very dapper in his suit and "Cheshire Cat" like smile. The brides maids, Rachel and Rebecca were also exquisite in their blue dresses and tiaras. The adorable Stacy Jones stole the show with her last minute basket dump and the very handsome Jared Mohammed made all the girls eat their hearts out with his charm. Mr. James Phillips was also very handsome in his tux standing to the right of his father, filling the role of the best man. He was even seen trying to pass the rings off too early with a sneaky "baton pass" maneuver. Of course the Groom was wearing a matching tux and could be seen pretending that his tears were just sweat. The reception kicked off with a picnic style dinner which included: fried chicken, potato salad, black beans, yellow rice, barbecued lil' smokies, Cuban bread, watermelon, fruit, cheese and veggie platters, sunflower seed rolls, Shannon's special broccoli salad (which all agree was the bomb) tea, sodas and topped off with a champagne toast and a beautiful wedding cake. It was all delicious. The food was served under a lovely canopy of oak trees which kept everone cool. The party got going with throwing of the garter which was caught by Dwayne Harper, a friend of the groom. The bridal bouquet was caught by the one and only Sandra Stevenson. It was clear that when the other eligible young ladies seen that Sandra had the "eye of the tiger" they backed away. The first dance was to The Stylistics song "Betcha, By Golly Wow" Attendees also danced with the newlyweds for "dollars" Karaoke and dancing was the activities of the day. Jim and LaVeta kicked it off with their rendition of the B52's "Love Shack." Sandra wowed every one with several songs including the crowd favorite, the Oleta Adams' "Get Here." Sam of course did his part singing "Sarah's Smile", "Send Her My Love" and others. Rachel sang Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" and "I Never Thought That I Could Feel This Way" which was beautifully sung without music. The Jones family had a ball singing "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge. Even Todd could be seen swaying around in the back like he was kin to Stevie Wonder. All in all it was a very lovely wedding and a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who came out. You made Jim and LaVeta's day very special!
