Graphics by Sherrie "The Morning Dawn" poetry by Lee White clouds hurriedly raced, Across the great blue skies, The year that Hurricane Donna, Has For one day Changed our lives. We filled our buckets of water, to conserve enough to drink, The tub was for the flushing, And even more, was in the sink. The dark of night, settled upon us, As neighbors came into our home, They gathered in great Numbers, So reluctant to be alone. The winds came a howling, like the sound of hungry wolves, As we hid beneath our blankets, heavily dressed in warming clothes. Candles were busy flickering, And there were stories, yet to tell, And occasionally came the thunder, of the Great Oak Trees, that fell. As the sun was slowly rising, birds sang their sweetest songs, Our Lord kept us securily safe, As we welcomed the Morning Dawn.
