"Historic Town" poetry by Lee We were traveling westerly, in the evening, Riding on Interstate 10, The road, much like an arrow, Of enduring miles, long without end. We chanced a little side road, The view was right for me, We came to an unknown, little town, A page from History. Every glimps, the town could offer, Seemed like the ancient times, We watched so very thoroughly, Looking for the highway signs. This little town had many posts, Which mentioned a Historic site, Driving through this unknown town, Upon the dark of night. Has anyone ever noticed, Where might this site be at? Yes, I think we just run over it, As we crossed the railroad track. We saw a horse drawn fire wagon, Men pumping from the sides, Drawing water from a little pond, Hay flaming toward the skies. In moments, the flame has dwindled, As we passed along in haste, This historic town, We never found again, In attempts that we retraced.
