"Smokey" poetry by Lee midi by Lee We had an Old Dog, Smokey, Our greatest loving friend, He pulled us through the winter snow, While we rode upon our sled. We explored the woods, in high adventure, Smokey close beside, He even played in hide & seek. From him we could not hide. We got some peanuts, Christmas Day, And left them on the floor, After Church, we found the shells, And the peanuts were no more. He walked with us to school sometimes, So we had to send him home, His collection of rubber balls began, When he had the time to roam. One day we packed to go to Florida, We found the greatest spread, Smokey’s collection of rubber balls, Were under my parents bed. In Florida we went in swimming, And Smokey loved it too, He would swim unto the very bottom, To fetch the can we threw. One day Smokey lost his sight, And started bumping into walls, Now Our Friend has gone to Heaven, With all the greatest dogs. We will always love him forever, No greater will there ever be. The old dog, my brother found one day, Our friend that would never Leave.
