Burning Rubber

"Burning Rubber"
poetry by Lee

My friend, Rhonda and I were talking,
For three months, she couldn't get on line,
It was Christmas, since I hear from her,
But then an email helped us find.
She wrote a little note to me,
And we met just like we planned,
We still both had our Thursday’s off,
So to biker’s week we ran.
Biking down the highway,
I noticed a funny smell,
It seemed like burning rubber,
Unsure & could not tell.
At last we arrived in Daytona,
And took in a little gas,
My muffler was black with rubber,
With a foot print, that still matched.
Our day was spent in shopping,
For another pair of shoes,
We finally found a Walmart,
With tidings of great news.
She always has a great outlook,
That nothing would get her down,
She was Saddle sore, from that lenghty ride,
That Caused that awful frown.
We stopped in for an Italian Meal,
And the sweet kindness, from the staff,
As we sat in Peaceful eating,
` And Sometimes, we just laughed.
Our day was a trip to remember,
And the people were all so kind,
Our Next trip will be in her Olsmobile,
Perhaps at another time.
