"Hot Rods" poetry by Lee My Sons Really Love their sporty new cars, Like the ones that I wished I had, But I was always, too busy working, To drive a sports car quite so bad. I remember my little Toyota, With the kids, I was riding fast, Poles were comming like a picket fence, As I was rushing down the narrow path. My boys would never forgot that day, As we whistled on through the wind, Rushing down that two lane road, Like the driver, who was raised to win. Now as I ask, when they take me places, Could you slow down a bit my son? Dad this aint nothing near as fast, As the day you drove this Run. I believe I raised the Dukes of Hazard, As they drive so awfully bold, It’s still just a little too fast for me, Now that I am getting old. I have learned, the awsome value of life, And so many of the things, that I need to do. God won’t mind, if we take just a Minute, Before we meet Him in the Sky of Blue.
