Field of Flowers

I found a field of flowers, In a meadow, not too far away,
A land of heavenly beauty, A place I loved to stay,
There too, was a shady old tree, And a stump, just my size,
I could sit & watch the animals, & the birds, above the painted sky.
There was a wise old owl, hooting above, in this old tree,
I guess that he was letting me know, that he's watching over me.
A rabbit then come hopping by, nibbeling on tall grass,
I told Mister Rabbit, that he is always welcome back.
A little butterfly, come drifting by, upon the gentle breeze,
But he got all excited, just when I had to sneeze.
A little worm was inching by, & he too came, to say hello,
I guess it's just their pleasant way, of saying, welcome home.
Along came that old bull frog, that scared the mess right out of me,
Then is when I noticed, my friends, no longer, could I see.
But I'll come back tomorrow, to say hello again,
To my favorite field of flowers, & to see my little friends.

for my little friend, Melissa, age 11
