KILLED ON A RAILROAD CROSSING
On the first day of March Mr. Anthony Spade and family who have lived in Brush Creek township for twenty years moved to Shrewsberry, York County, to make that their future home. On Monday, March 10, his son James S. Spade, aged 20 years, while standing on the railroad track at a crossing of the Northern Central, at that place, was run over by a shifting engine and instantly killed. His body was horribly mangled, so much so, that it had to be gathered up in buckets. His aged parents have the sympathy of their friends in this county in their sad affliction.

According to the family story, apparently James loved trains and would go down to the station to watch the trains. He was standing on the track watching a train when the shifting engine came through and hit him.
