Homes Occupied by the Spade Family in Pennsylvania

We have verified that Anthony and Rosina Spade lived in this house in the late 1800s. Retha Elizabeth (Duvall) Spade stated in 2005 that this house, which was located down the street from the second main Spade residence (below), fell into disrepair. They were afraid children playing in or near it might be injured so it was demolished. Retha's husband was Robert Mark Spade, (son of Grant Franklin, grandson of Anthony Spade, Jr., great grandson of Anthony Spade). Retha passed away August 8, 2010.

Anton and Rosina’s second family home was just down the road from their first home (above). This house in Fulton County is currently occupied and is still in the Spade Family. According to John Albert Spade, "Rosina continued to live there after Anton’s death, but by 1920 she was living in the home of her son, Christian Wilhelm. The family home became the possession of Chester Anthony Spade, the son of Anthony Spade, Jr., as indicated on a township map dated 1916. Eventually, though, ownership went to Chester’s brother, Grant, who farmed it until his death in 1956.

Ownership of the family home next went to Robert Mark Spade and his wife Retha, in whose hands it stayed until Retha transferred ownership to her son. Hopefully the home will continue to stay in the family. It would be a terrible loss if it were sold to some stranger, or, worse yet, some developer."
