~ Rest of the Gang ~
Bula (Rose) Chick

Special memories of Julesburg: It seems like such a waste when I think about how all of us worked so hard to earn awards from the Palmer Method of Handwriting and now one hardly ever writes. We all type or use a computer ... such a shame! Ha!
I'll go back to the lower grades. We had a teacher who was a bit odd, I think her name was Miss Francis, she seemed to enjoy taping a few of our mouths shut. Then there was Myra Meline who wore nothing but orange and avocado green clothes!!!

Most like to see: Anyone I would recognize!!!

We left Julesburg at the end of my freshman year (1957). I attended school in Fountain, Colorado. That was a rude awakening. The town was just cleaning up gang problems. Then we moved to Loveland, Colorado. I enjoyed that high school, then my dad was transferred to Pueblo, Colorado. That was a very big school, three stories. How would I ever get to all my classes on time? So, three schools in one year!!! My junior year I went to Loveland High. I graduated from Longmont, Colorado. I feel closer to Julesburg since I went to school for nine years straight! The other schools were so big and I never stayed long in one spot. I never had a chance to really know a lot of people. Just the boys!!!! Kidding!!!!
Personal: I married Don Chick, we have three fantastic kids. Our two daughters live within five miles, so I get to see my grandkids a lot!!!

Our oldest daughter has all the patience in the world, she 'homeschools' her three.
My youngest daughter is a single parent now. She is a vault teller and lets me keep her daughter. Our son is the middle child and he is married, no children, just a cat!

He works for Intel Computer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a senior electronic tech on his shift.

There is not enough space to tell about my cute, smart, lovable, adorable GRANDKIDS!! The oldest boy is 12 years. Next is a girl, 10 years. Another boy 5 years, and then a 3 year old girl!!

My parents are deceased. My dad died in a construction accident by Lyons, Colorado in 1968. Mother died of cancer in 1994.

Sister: Marie graduated from Julesburg in 1957. She passed away of head and neck cancer in 1991.

I get to stay home now. For twelve years, I was an assistant manager at a health and racquet club. From there I worked at two different doctor's offices as a receptionist.

My favorite pastime is my family. Watching the oldest grandkids in their sports. I do have a tough time keeping my mouth shut cheering them on. They use to tell me I embarrassed them but now they are used to me hollering!!! I also enjoy crafts, walking, working out and reading.

I hope to come to the reunion, 40 years!!!!!! It'll be great to see every-one. If not, maybe someone will come up to see Glacier Park, and I am right on the way!

Update

Brooke reads 8th grade material. Oldest grandson is 17. He has his own little 4 x 4 pick up. He an his dad built it from two wrecks. Brittney is 15. She also drives (in Montana you can drive at 15) and has her own car. I lived through her learning to drive! She loves to take her hands off of the wheel and drive with her knee! And, I do not disappoint her - I do scream! Aaron is 10 and tried out for the majors. He made the draft, youngest on his team!!

My three kids have great spouses and are happy and healthy. The two girls still live within five miles of me. My son and wife live in Chandler, AZ. He still works for Intel. He is a senior electronic Technician of his shift.

This year is his sabbatical. Intel gives all their people a sabbatical every seven years. Last two years I have been a substitute teacher’s aide for the city’s elementary schools. I really enjoy the kids and work. There is a saying “If you have good friends you have almost everything.” That is so true. Two very special grade school friends are a part of my life now. Jean Miller and Lora Rae Reuter have renewed their friendship with me!

Lora Rae and I went to visit Jean. What a hostess she was to us. And she is a GREAT decorator. In two years after our visit to the coast - Jean and Lora Rae came to Kalispell, U.S.A.! The week just flew by. BEWARE if you take Jean shopping - remind her how big your car is and the trunk isn’t real big either.

We were up by the Canadian border, she found two end tables, a coffee table, small rocking chair. We managed to get it all in my car and the three of us even had room.

Dale and Peggy (Tatum) Free came up last summer. It was great to chat with them and see their home.

Hope to see everyone this summer!
