Memories - Oh how sweet were some of those carefree youthful days. How can we forget our 8th grade graduation - so that we could finally go to the big high school. Then those times at the skating rink, the girls late night trips to Chappell and Big Springs; burning a 1960 in the high school lawn; Gene Mikelson chasing us down an alley on a snowy Halloween after putting stuff at the school; the Hillyers with band and chorus classes; Mr. Grants Physics class (was he ever there more than 15 minutes?); Mr. Southworths tough biology class; Typing and Accounting with Mr. Hinton and, of course, History with Mr. Thisius. I think we talked some basketball during that class. And, I reminisce about car-hopping at Whittens Drive-In and ushering at the Hippodrome Theater. Those are fond memories.

But, ALAS, time marches on, so in August of 1960, Jim Feighny, Kelly Davies and I went to the University of Wyoming. Ask Jim who was a major player in the pantry raid at U of W that Spring. |

I transferred to CSU in 1963 and after four majors and five years of college, finally graduated with a teaching degree in English. Miss Klemme would be proud! |

At CSU I met Roger and we were married in 1966. After teaching at Jefferson High School in Wheat Ridge for three years, Nicole was born in 1969 and Melissa in 1971. Being a stay-at-home mom, I enjoyed those years as a mother and also developed an interest in gardening, tennis, bridge, crafts and continued with music and reading interests.

Roger was with Adams County School District #1 as track and basketball coach, science teacher, personnel and then Business Director until we moved to Longmont in 1982. I did some substitute teaching for a while and then went to work at United Bank, later Norwest Bank and now Wells Fargo Bank. Roger retired from the Saint Vrain Valley School District as Superintendent of Schools in 1997 and I retired from the bank in January of 1998. |

Since then we have taken cruises to the Panama Canal, Alaska, the Caribbean and Mexico, plus travels to Arizona, Texas and New York.

Nicole graduated from Chapman University and Melissa from the University of San Diego in California, and then both returned to Colorado where they each received their Masters Degrees from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Nicole married Tony Blake from Wichita, Kansas, a KSU alum, in February of 1997. They have a daughter Deanna, born in March of 1999 and Tonys daughter, Kelli, now 10 years old. Nicole retired from Lease Tec Corp to be a stay-at-home mom. Tony is Personnel Director at ICG Corp, and they recently moved into a new home in Littleton.

We continue to work on our cabin which is northeast of Kremmling, Colorado (ask Larry and Susy how to get there), and we are going on a Mediterannean Cruise in September. We hope to do a lot more traveling in the years to come.
