Rose (Shaw) Glenn
Hi! My name is Rose (Shaw) Glenn. I will be married 40 years this November 20!! My husband is Tim Glenn. He is originally from Big Springs, Nebraska. Since 1970 we have lived in Norfolk, Nebraska.
We have 3 children: Tim Jr. - Ted and Missy.

I have been employed in long term care for 22 years. I am a Certified Dietary Manager. The last 10 years I have been employed in Stanton.

It is a 96 bed nursing home. There is a special Alzeimers unit and a day care for children and adults. I am in charge of all the paper work, ordering, and nutritional assessments. I also belong to the Professional Organization of National Dietary Managers Association. I have been the State President twice. I have also attended many National Conventions. This last year I was the Legislative Chairman so had the opportunity to go to Washington DC and

visit with the Representatives and Senators from Nebraska on the health concerns in long term care. This was a real exciting week!

My husband, Tim, also works at the Norfolk Regional Center. He has been there over 20 years. We are both active in our church and this is very important to us.

1995 was a very difficult for me. But, we are surviving. My Mom passed away in December of 1989. She had a stroke the day after Thanksgiving and only lasted 11 days. We miss her lots. My Dad passed away suddenly September 30, 1994. I didn't realize how hard it was to let him go! Julesburg has been a good place to grow up for us. We have a special heritage. The bakery gave us a good, hard-working upbringing.

When Dad died it made me realize how special the town really is. Everyone was there and helped us through a hard time. You are really great people and Julesburg will always be home.

It's hard to remember about school days!! Must be my age!!

My favorite teachers were Miss Davies in Kindergarten. The old grade school and playing on the fire escapes. Going into the new grade school and going through so many teachers. (Wonder why?)

Music was my favorite class. Band and learning to play the clarinet and finally getting to play in the high school band. While still in grade school, Mr. and Mrs. Hillyer were also favorites. When Peggy Tatum and I went to State chorus on our own, we sang a bird song in the bus and on the way home an owl came through the window. Also, the times of going to State Band.

I have fond memories of Girl Scouts (Mom was leader). Learning to cook out at the river and many meetings in the basement of the library. In high school wearing lots of can-cans and bells at Christmas time. There were many fun slumber parties, and getting Dad's new car stuck on Gerk's farm while we were stealing hay for the school dummy!

I feel I had many great classmates, Sandy, Virginia, Gloria, Lora Rae, Jean --- I can't begin to list them all, I'd leave some off, I know!! I would really like to see Violet!! We became good friends and she was at our house often.

My favorite pastime: Being a pest to my husband. My kids and Grandkids ...
Reading and cake decorating.

I could live anywhere: Closer to my grandkids and in a big city with a LARGE mall to shop 'til I drop!!!!
I'm really anxious to come and see everyone.

UPDATE

Just thought I’d better get this mailed before you think I am like the rest of the classmates, Procrastinator!!!

In case you think that I lost all of my marbles or those that I have left, I probably have. Tim and I decided to move to Missouri, spelled Misery! Tim retired from the Regional Center last April and I took a new position at a residential, assisted-living-nursing home facility. It’s a 250 bed facility.

So, you can see I am not bored. The one reason we decided to do this move was to be closer to my brother Chet. He is owner of a Bread Basket here in Joplin. No Surprise!!

I, at times, will help him out. Mainly at the mall when he does a weekend there. We probably have both lost our marbles on this one. Dad is probably having the last laugh on the two of us.

My work here is much the same - just much larger. I still am the Dietary Manager. I have about 32 employees to manage and see that all the meals go out and are tasty. Also, all the nutritional paperwork that goes in charts now days. The federal guide lines sure do keep us on our toes. One of the biggest adjustments has been the difference of work ethics here compared to Nebraska. Much different.

Tim is staying busy - he drives a school bus and does help Chet some with delivering to the restaurants and Sams Club. He will probably keep more busy this summer with work to do on our house.

We have had a busy year! Our youngest Missy - graduated from North Central University with a Children’s Pastor degree, in May and in August, we had her wedding in Illinois. Her husband is a senior there. It is quite a time planning this wedding with her in Minneapolis, us here and the wedding in Illinois. Actually, we did it without a hitch.

We also had our oldest granddaughter - Shelly - get married in December in Scottsbluff. So, we made many trips this last year. It is a wonder that I made i through the year in one piece.

Our oldest sone, Tim, Jr. (TJ) is living in Julesburg, Colorado. He is married to Kathy Ball and she has

two girls who are attending Julesburg school. Our other son Ted and his wife, Avis, still live in Norfolk, Nebraska. Our last grandson, Richard, lives in Scottsbluff with his mom and spends the summer in Julesburg with his dad. Missy and Matt are in Minneapolis - she is the manager of the mail room there at the college until Matt graduates.

My hobbies at this time seem to be enjoying the drive to see all of our kids and grandkids!! Maybe especially Minneapolis since I love the Malls so much and they do have the biggest!!!
