H i everyone, well it was time for me to sit down and tell you all a little bit about myself. Where to begin? I have always been a singer, for as long as I can remember I have been singing something. I have memories of myself as young as three standing on the swing set in my parents backyard singing a song at the top of my lungs about a cartoon character and having my mother come outside and ask me to tone it down. It seems like someone has always been asking me to tone it down * laughs *. I was given my first guitar for Xmas when I was 11yrs old after hassling my parents for one for about three years running; The proviso being that I learn piano so that I had a grounding in music. When I turned 16 I wrote my first song "Goodbye" a not so happy song about my first romance that went terribly wrong, * no one was ever as devastated as I was at that time *. I continued to write on and off for a few years after that but mostly it was poetry. I went though a phase of only being able to write poetry - nothing seemed to fit when it came to music. I decided that I was really a vocalist and not much of a musician.
I moved to Melbourne when I was 20yrs of age after having yet another failed romance, * what is it with artists and failed romances? * And moved into a house with my best friend Leigh. That was 15yrs ago. I met my husband after living in Melbourne for 18months, and two years later we were married, we have been married now for 14 years and have 5 children together. They keep us on our toes and make it a little hard to concentrate on my music at times but being a mother and a musician is something that I will just have to learn to balance. Our eldest child is a boy 13, then another boy 11, followed by our only girl who is 8 (going on 40), and then we have five year old twin sons, yes 4 boys and 1 girl (what was I thinking?). For the last 2yrs I have been working pretty much full time in one way or another towards my music, Writing my own songs and working on more poetry, I’m thinking that maybe one day I may do a compilation CD of both my music and my poetry. (Just an idea).
Well, its now 2003, and so much has happened since this webpage was first designed. My music has, in my opinion, improved ten fold since making the decision to concentrate fully on my music again. When I first come into the world of Internet music, I wasn’t really sure what to expect, or, if at all to expect anything. Then I discovered Paltalk. Thanks to the people on Paltalk my world of music expanded no end. I heard people playing Slide guitar, drums, flute, acoustic and electric guitar, if there was an instrument to be played, there was a room in Paltalk to hear it in.
And then, there was the singing, some of the talent in Paltalk has to be heard to be believed, I could sit here all day and tell you about the incredible people, but really, I suggest you just go there, and listen yourself, I promise you, you wont be disappointed.
I would also like to take this time to thank a few special people that have come into my life since using the internet to expand my musical knowledge. Firstly, Id like to thank Glenn Brace, (Embraced) who taught me to just shut up and do it. When I first met Glenn, I wasn’t sure if I had chosen to do the right thing with my music, and Glenn turned to me and said. Just shut up and do it. He was right. Thankyou Glenn.
Next, I want to say Thankyou, to my dear friend GM Paterson, (Songwryter), who told me to always hold onto some kind of dream, no matter how hard it seems, hold onto it, and go for it. I did. Thankyou GM.
Russell Ashby, (Aristotle12) My dear sweet Russ, some friendships only come along once in a lifetime, you’re a gem, an incredible talent, a gentleman to the nth degree. Thankyou for being there, and thanks for letting me steal your songs. *Laughs*.
Scott Frigon, (Mr Neil Young). Scott was one of the first performers that I heard sing and play guitar on Paltalk, I was convinced it was Neil Young, he was singing Needle and the Damage Done, I nearly fell off my chair, He sounded just like him, and Needle is my all time favourite Neil Young song. Scott and I formed a really quick friendship after that, I think I have to be his # 1 fan.
He not only performs Neil Young numbers but any other assortment of songs, Including many of my favourites, Circle Game just to name one of them.. To Scott, I want to say, Thankyou for being a friend, for making me laugh, for sharing your music with me and mostly. Thankyou for being you.
Last, But certainly not least, I want to thank my husband Brad, Things haven’t been easy for us in the last two years, music consumed me for a lot of that time, and you were a constant for me, always there. You, and our children, helped support me in more ways than are possible to mention, your Love, your encouragement, your interest in every aspect of my music, have helped me to be a better person, a better musician, and enjoy it more.
Your design and upkeep of my website has been invaluable to me, I could never have done it on my own, not in a million years. For that My Love, I thankyou.
