The capital Paramaribo:
The capital Paramaribo is a impressive hybride of Tropical and Asian
South-America. Brick buildings with grassy squares, beautiful wooden
houses in the streets with palm trees and modern buildings in the new
area. You can find Chinese buildings, East Indian temples,
Chinese supermarkets and Indonesian people selling Sateh.
In the center of the city you can find the Independence Square and the
Presidential Palace. Behind this Palace you can find the Palm Tree Garden,
a beautiful park with palm trees and tropical birds. And at the riverside
boulevard you can find the main market and boats to go to other provinces
of Surinam.
Nature Parks:
Surinam has 12 national nature parks. The goverment of Surinam is working
to establish eco-tourism strategies and develop and implement management
plans for Surinamese protected areas in an effort to revitalize it's
international tourist industry and to rebuild the country's infrastructure
of national parks.
