| According to Lily’s marriage certificate she was born around September 1885 in Birmingham.
By the time of the census in 1901 Lily was living at home in the St Stephen’s area of Birmingham with her parents John and Elizabeth. Lily was 16 and employed as a glass polisher. Also living at home were some of her younger siblings Thomas, Leonard, Frank, Elsie and Adelaid. Lily also had four other brothers John, Arthur, Albert and Alfred. Lily married William Henry Yates on 14th March 1909 and by 1915 when Adelaide was born the family were living at 1 Ward Street, Birmingham. Lily died c. 1975. |
