The folk dance "Zdravez" from the town of Peshtera was set up in 1985 by the choreographer Elena Barenska. From that date on a constant process of the group's professional development begins. The group strives to show the intransigent beauty and charm of Bulgarian folk dances. The bigger part of its repertoire is dedicated to the folklore of Trakija. The other part represents with inspiration and love other regional folk styles, bringing out the diversity of Bulgarian ethnic culture.

The successful tours of "Zdravez" in USSR, Poland, Greece, and Italy won many new friends and recognition for the Bulgarian folk genius. The proup's talented singers, musicians and dancers find inspiration in folklore, giving themselves entirely to the art which is rooted in people's creative work and is meant for the people.

"Zdravez" combines the youth and creative enthusiasm of Peshtera, it takes spectators out of everyday life into the whirl of their dances, the beauty of colours, the network of figures, full of splendor and noteworthy skill.

At the present the folkgroup contains 40 persons - dancers and singers, children formation, using special Bulgarian folk instruments.
