Clearing around Statue and Tormax we've never had any type of giant always drop armor. The big blue guys around statue area do drop a lot though.

The 3 behind vindicator drop 'almost' every time, guardians of zek, red to 60 but quite easy, only hit in the 200s. Can pull em easy so long as vindi is dead, they on same spawn timer as normal arena giants.

well depends on how you put it, but the guardians do quad 400 and rampage, but debuffable. i've seen them drop several pieces of armor at once.

The Thurg quest giants your talking about only drop plate though. Not sure on your class. Yes, one of the end giants does always drop a piece of plate armor. Just keep redoing that part of the quest and keep the spawns cleared and you can spend your whole time there.

The quest giants don't always drop every time - we've gone a few rounds with no drops many times but you are correct that they only drop Plate. They do have a increased chance to drop though. I think we got 8+ pieces (inc a BP or 2) in 2 hours once.
The spot is in Iceshard Keep (some call it lord's manor). Basically anyone can spawn the giants by standing on the throne and saying "the Dain shall be slain for the peace we must obtain." Smack the dorf that spawns and 2 giants will pop and agro. Killing the one with the name starting with G first to make it easier on yourselves since killing the one starting with K spawns another giant to kill. Make sure to snare them.
You will have 2-3 waves of single giant spawns each getting more difficult to kill with the last being lvl 60th and 99% immune to magic. Once he's dead, you must make sure to kill the dorf that pops. If he gets away, you will not be able to spawn the giants again for at least 2 hours (might be 4).
Once the dorf is dead, rest up and when ready repeat the phrase and do it all over again. Great way to help out plate classes in the guild missing pieces or tank twinks. Drop rate here >>>>>>> arena - but only plate armor.
This can be done with a single group if well equipped but I'd recommend having at least 2 - no snare on the last giant can mean CR if you can't kill it before it gets out of the throne room.
As a bonus, anyone planning on doing the Coldain Ring quests should loot and bank the head that the dorf drops.

Yea we did the ring spawn like 3 or 4x came out with plate gloves and legs. From other posts it seems the drop rate has been nerfed though still seems decent.
