I started playing Bass guitar at the age of 15. I was first turned on to bass when a friend of mine (Dan Gruver) brought a guitar over to my house one day and said he was taking lessons. I thought that was so cool...he knew the main riff to Metallica' "Enter Sandman" and that just blew my mind. I had been an avid listener of music since the age of 7, when my brother Jason, who I looked up to so highly turned me on to bands such as Iron Maiden, Megadeath, Ozzy, Ac/Dc, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot...the list goes on. My first tape (yes, before CDs became a comodity) was Iron Maiden's, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. It was awesome...for the half of day that I had it...My mother, who was a very active participant in my life found words in their lyrics directed towards spirits rapping ppl in their sleep and, needless to say, this just wasn't for her 7yr old to hear. She took the tape back and replaced it....With Rod Stewart!! I understand her intentions, and it was a noble attempt at a parent to save her son from walking down the long troubled road ahead.
